The town of Katherine is situated on the banks of the Katherine River. It is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas. One of the regions most popular activities is fishing, with popular spots being found in the Gulf area to the east, Daly River region to the north, Victoria River Region to the south-west and in Mataranka to the south-east of Katherine.
